Inspired by the majestic allure of the Opéra national de Paris, the name "Opera Trading Co." was born, laying the foundation for a distinguished establishment committed to excellence and fostering innovation, all while upholding the rich tapestry of heritage and tradition. This marks the genesis of a family enterprise, born during the early 1990s in the vibrant city of Dubai. Driven by a passionate vision, the company aimed to curate and present the finest offerings from the realm of fashion through a distinctive and discerning perspective.

A little history

Co-founders Luma and Mohamad Awada embarked on their journey by opening the inaugural Opera Shoes boutique within the iconic Burjuman mall in Dubai in 1994. It marked a pioneering venture as one of Dubai's premier multi-brand luxury fashion boutiques, proudly showcasing esteemed labels like Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, Dior, and other renowned brands. From its humble beginnings, Opera Shoes burgeoned into a network of 8 stores by 2012, effortlessly spanning across the city's landscape.

In 2004, Opera Trading Co. further solidified its presence by inaugurating the first Rene Caovilla boutique in the Middle East, a move that facilitated the brand's expansion into the Middle East and the broader Southern Asian region.

Fast forward to 2018, a significant milestone was achieved as the company unveiled its largest establishment yet—a striking standalone glass structure named VAO Concept Store, nestled in the heart of Dubai's City Walk. This flagship store proudly houses an array of international brands and introduces new product categories, including ready-to-wear and home decor, thereby offering a holistic lifestyle experience.

In 2019, Opera Trading Co. took a bold step towards enhancing its global reach by launching vaoconceptstore.com, reinforcing its digital presence and connecting with clients worldwide.
